    • Profile

      現在の主要な研究テーマは2つあります。1つは、TRPチャネル(2021年ノーベル生理学・医学賞受賞)に関するテーマです。低酸素に対する生理的な反応は、秒~分単位の急性の応答と時間~日単位の緩徐な応答に大きく分類されます。慢性の低酸素応答である造血作用や血管形成などには、hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF:低酸素誘導因子)が中心的な役割を果たすことが知られています(2019年ノーベル生理学・医学賞受賞)。それに対し、急性の酸素センシングには頸動脈小体の発見以降(1938年ノーベル生理学・医学賞受賞)、頸動脈小体による血中酸素濃度感知が重要であるとされていますが、その分子メカニズムに関しては仮説が乱立しており混迷状態にあります。幸運なことに、頸動脈小体研究の第一人者であるJosé López-Barneo先生のラボで研究する機会に恵まれ、頸動脈小体研究の最前線に触れることができました。その経験とTRPチャネルに関するノウハウ及び知見を活かし、急性の酸素センシングの普遍的な分子メカニズムに迫ります。


       もう1つは、電位依存性カルシウムチャネルに関するテーマです。近年、大規模なゲノムワイド関連解析により、電位依存性カルシウムチャネルサブユニットが統合失調症を含む精神疾患と関連することが次々と報告されていますが、発症メカニズム・病態にどのように関与するのかはよくわかっていません。興味深いことに電位依存性カルシウムチャネルサブユニットはイオン透過とは「異なる」機構を介して、様々な役割を有していることが明らかになりつつあります。そのユニークな機能が脳高次機能において果たす役割を明らかにしていきたいと考えています。
