      分子神経生物学、動物心理学、連合学習理論、In vivo 電気生理学、光遺伝学、イメージング、数理モデリングなどを駆使し、げっ歯類(特にラット)をモデルとして、意欲や動機づけ、注意の神経基盤の基礎研究を行っています。特に、認知行動課題を遂行中のげっ歯類の、ドーパミン神経回路などの、サブ秒単位のダイナミックな役割について研究しています。

        Neural basis of motivation
      • Overview of the research

        Motivation is an important brain function to achieve one's goals in work, social relationships, and so on. On the other hand, loss of motivation is a common syndrome observed across many psychiatric diseases. However, the neural basis of motivation is not well understood. This is why the treatment of loss of motivation has been difficult. Our research aims to address the neural basis of motivation by multidisciplinary approach utilizing behavioral models based on animal phycology, genetic methods such as genetically engineered rodents, and methods to measure neural activity such as electrophysiology and calcium imaging. We believe our research will also lead to better understanding of the mechanisms and treatments of loss of motivation.
