      • Overview of the research

        I have been developing new analytical techniques for polymer processing.
        1. Advanced IR / NIR spectroscopic imaging methods have been developed.
        We succeeded in visualizing the hydrolysis of polylactic acid non-destructively by the developed imaging technique.
        The imaging technique, which can visualize both chemical composition and birefringence simultaneously, has been developed.
        2. The crystallization kinetics of some polymer nanocomposites and polymer blends has been investigated by the fast scanning calorimetry.
        We revealed the strong crystal nucleating effect of cellulose nano-fiber and the crystallization retardation effect of low-crystallinity polypropylene.
        3. A NIR spectrometer was combined with an injection molding machine.
        We succeeded in measuring the concentration of a physical blowing agent on-line during the foam injection molding process.
