Institutions and Bamboo-Wooden Slips in Ancient China
Overview of the research
This research explores the institutional history and material culture of bamboo and wooden slips in ancient China, especially in the Qin and Han periods. In terms of institutional history, it examines the characteristics and limitations of governing structures, documentary administration, and legal systems. During this period, the existence of standardized official documents served as the paramount expression of imperial unity. Since these documents were inscribed on bamboo and wooden slips, such materials constitute the primary historical sources for this study.
