Profile

Profile
Kei Hiroi received her B.S. degrees in Engineering in 2004 from Tohoku University. She worked NTT EAST from 2004 to 2011. She received her Master of Media Design and Ph.D. in Media Design in 2011 and 2014, respectively from Keio University. From 2014, she has been a designated assistant professor in the Institute of Innovation for Future Society, and from 2018, an assistant professor in the department of Information and Communication Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University. She is currently an associate professor in Disaster Prevention Research Institute Kyoto University. Her research interests include smart city, disaster inforation system, and crisis spatial temporal information analysis.

Disaster Information Sysytem, Spatial Temporal Data Analysis
Overview of the research
My research aims to collect, accumulate, and analyze various kinds of data about our society, derive meaning from these data, and create estimation and prediction technology for various phenomena such as natural disasters and human behavior, and to penetrate the technology into society.

Specifically, the followings are three research themes;
1. Collection and utilization of various data on cities
Research and development of sensing technology for large-scale and highly accurate collection and distribution of sensor data from various resources (environment, people, etc.) related to cities.

2. Analysis technology to figure out anomalies
Research and development of analysis technology for grasping and predicting damage that cannot be directly figured out from various sensor data

3. Data distribution platform for anomaly
Research and development of a cyber physical system for federating various ICT/simulators to grasp and predict anomalies in order to figure out damage in real time.
