I am studying about development and refinement of prediction method that simulates flows and bed deformation in rivers, such as formation process of sand waves, river channel processes, local scouring around a structure and dike breaching, and verifying its application.
Overview of the research
To consider sustainable development in a river basin, ecological issues and measures for disaster mitigation, it is necessary to understand and predict the mechanism of water flows, sediment transport and bed deformation. Therefore, I am carrying out hydraulic experiments to understand the mechanism of flows and sediment transport, focusing on formation process of sand waves such as dunes and bars, river channel processes, local scouring around a river hydraulic structure and dike breaching due to overtopping and seepage flows. Moreover, I am studying about development and refinement of prediction method that simulates flows and bed deformation in rivers and verifying its application.
