        Development of kidney regeneration using induced pluripotent stem cells
      • Overview of the research

        The total number of patients receiving dialysis therapy due to end-stage chronic renal failure continues to increase every year. Effective treatment for renal diseases has not been established yet, coupled with the aging society, it is expected that dialysis medical expenses will continue to increase. On the other hand, research to induce major organs from pluripotent stem cells has been actively conducted in recent years. Therefore, I am developing a method to induce renal cells from iPS cells, elucidating the signal molecules and mechanisms involved in renal development, and developing a novel pathological model for intractable hereditary renal diseases.
