        iPS細胞を用いた輸血製剤供給システムの開発と臨床試験
      • Overview of the research

        多細胞生物は非対称性分裂によって多様な細胞を産生しながら発生し、個体を形成します。血液を一生にわたって供給している造血幹細胞や各種の血液系譜前駆細胞もまた非対称性分裂によって多種類の血液細胞を産生すると考えられています。幹細胞システムを維持するためには自己複製と分化が必要であり、この両方を同時に可能にするのが非対称性自己複製分裂です。こうした機構の分子機序の解明を継続することで、私たちはヒト多能性幹細胞から効率よく血小板や造血幹細胞をはじめとする各種血液細胞を誘導する技術を確立し、献血に依存しない輸血システムの実現および遺伝子治療を目指した基礎研究・技術改良を推進していきます。
        iPS細胞研究所は、再生医療の実現化を目指して様々な患者に対応できるiPS細胞の樹立を行ってバンク化する計画を推進しています。私たちは、iPS細胞に限定せず,iPS細胞をソースにした血小板や赤血球を大量かつ一定の品質で供給できるようにするためのバンクシステムの構築を目指します。そのために、従来の遺伝情報ネットワーク以外のエピゲノム情報を解析・応用し、特定の細胞系譜がヒト多能性幹細胞から生み出され維持されるための分子機構を明らかにしていきたいと考えています。
