• Research Topics

  Anthropological research on the adaptive nature of cultural and ritual practices in the context of disaster.

• Overview of the research

  My research interest is in cultural anthropology and material culture studies, more specifically the adaptive nature of cultural practices.
  My research focuses on the preservation and transmission of cultural practices, notably living heritage, and their meaning and effect on the community, in the context of disaster and disaster recovery.
  I am currently focusing on the transmission of disaster memory through material culture: the potential role and effects of disaster-related objects (monuments, memorials, remains, etc.) in maintaining the memory of past disasters, in disaster awareness and in the shaping of local risk cultures.
