I study and research about the many complexities of international tourism, and am especially interested in the history of foreign tourism in Japan, discourses about Japan that have grown out of tourism, and of thinking of tourism as a central space for intercultural encounter. I have taught English and English-based classes in Japan for over 10 years, and have a strong interest in intercultural exchange and how to help Japanese students better engage internationally.
