Ryota Sakamoto received his medical degree at Tohoku University, followed by his doctorate at Kyoto University. He had been working in the Kingdom of Bhutan, a place he had longed to visit since his childhood. In Bhutan, he strove, in cooperation with local residents and the Ministry of Health, to improve the health of the community-dwelling elderly. He believes that ASEAN countries, Bhutan, and Japan can encourage and support and learn from each other to create a bright future. His research interests are on Field Medicine.
