    • Profile

      細胞間のコミュニケーションに関わる分泌性シグナル蛋白質に興味をもち、アフリカツメガエル胚を材料に、顕微鏡で見ることにこだわった研究をしています。


      分泌性シグナルタンパク質の中でも「モルフォゲン」として知られるWntやFGF、TGF-betaなどは細胞外に分泌されたあと、拡散することなどによって「濃度勾配」を作って働くと考えられてきました。学部生の頃にそもそも濃度勾配ができる時には拡散などの物理的な作用が働くはずと考え、その仕組みを知りたいということで研究を始めましたが、以後一貫して分泌性蛋白質の研究をしています。特にWnt蛋白質の分布や拡散を実際に顕微鏡で見ることに注力していますが、一般的な濃度勾配のドグマからは外れたところで面白い現象がいろいろ見えてきました。最近はWntによって細胞の方向性「平面細胞極性」が揃えられる現象に興味をもって調べているところです。
