      • Research Topics

        Studies on cellular signaling protein kinases including DYRK1A and MOK, and on the Hsp90 molecular chaperone system that support signaling kinases.
      • Overview of the research

        Protein kinases play pivotal roles in signal transduction system of mammalian cells. Many of these signaling protein kinases require the molecular chaperone Hsp90 and its co-chaperone Cdc37 for their structural maturation and function. I have been interested in the molecular mechanism how signaling protein kinases are regulated and how the Hsp90 molecular chaperone system works in cells. I have been studying mainly on Hsp90, Cdc37, DYRK family protein kinases inluding DYRK1A, WDR68, Tau, FKBP52, CK2, and MOK. The techniques and methods I am using are based on biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology. The achievements should be of critical importance in the fundamentals of biology, but also anticipated to be critical for the understanding of cellular basis and for the therapeutic applications of human diseases such as cancer, Down Syndrome, Alzheimer disease, and autism spectrum disorder.
