      昭和23年京都市生まれ。京都大学名誉教授。
      昭和47年京都府立大学農学部林学科卒業。
      昭和52年京都大学大学院農学研究科林産工学専攻博士後期課程研究指導認定同退学。
      農学博士(木材接着の破壊力学的研究)。
      専門分野は集成材構造建築物の接合メカニズム。
      平成3年「集成材骨組み構造におけるモーメント抵抗接合に関する研究」によって「日本木材学会賞」受賞。
      平成17年「ドリフトピン接合の木質構造への応用と普及」によって「杉山英男賞」受賞。
      著作として;
      木質構造設計ノート(1995)、木質構造接合部設計マニュアル(2009):日本建築学会(共著)。
      集成材「木を超えた木」開発の建築史(2016):京大出版会など。
