        Studies on the mechanisms of plant RNA virus multiplication and host specificity determination
      • Overview of the research

        I have studied mechanisms of host specificity between plants and viruses using bromoviruses such as Brome mosaic virus (BMV) and Spring beauty latent virus (SBLV) as models. Research is focused on (1) identification of plant factors involved in bromovirus movement, (2) host specificity between bromoviruses and Arabidopsis thaliana, (3) mechanisms of symptom development upon infection with SBLV, and (4) infection specificity between BMV strains and rice cultivars. We have identified virus factors and plant factors involved in these phenomena and analysed structures and functions of the identified factors.
