      • Overview of the research

        My research interest includes the development of synthetic approaches for the aromatic compounds with helical chirality and investigation of their novel molecular functions through spectroscopic measurements. More specifically, I aim at the systematic molecular design of helical aromatic compounds with uniformly extended pi conjugation systems to realize (1) an ideal response to circularly polarized lights (chiroptical properties), (2) molecular solenoid properties at the single-molecule level, (3) electronic spin selective conductance behavior in aromatic molecules with helical chirality, and (4) the development of tough and flexible polymer materials based on molecular spring properties.
