      土壌は自然や農業を支えている生態系の要であり、元素の生物地球化学的循環を司っています。土壌の性質や機能に極めて強い影響を与え、その系の物質動態を特徴づけている粘土鉱物(二次鉱物)に着目し、以下の研究を行っています。

      ・気候や地質などの環境因子が粘土鉱物の生成と分布に与える影響

      ・生態系における各元素の動態に粘土鉱物が与える影響

      (土壌有機炭素の蓄積・分解、リンの吸着、窒素の形態変化など)

      ・上記2つに基づく自然に調和した持続的な土地利用の確立

      • Research Topics

        Formation and distribution of soil clay minerals (secondary minerals); Dynamics of elements (e.g., carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus) in natural and agricultural ecosystems; Eco-friendly agriculture
      • Overview of the research

        Soil is the foundation of both natural and agricultural systems and controls biogeochemical cycles of elements. Soil secondary minerals (clay minerals) are essential components of soil, characterizing elemental dynamics in the systems. Researching a wide range of ecosystems from tropical to subarctic and humid to semiarid zones, I study the following topics: 1. Effects of environmental factors (e.g., climate, geology) on the formation and distribution of soil clay minerals; 2. Effects of soil clay minerals on the dynamics of elements in natural and agricultural ecosystems, such as stabilization, decomposition, and pool size of soil organic carbon, phosphorus sorption to soil particles, and nitrogen transformations in soil; 3. Development of sustainable land use that harmonizes with nature, based on the above two topics.
