      Research

Research Topics, Overview of the research

      • Research Topics

Dosage compensation for X-linked genes in primates
      • Overview of the research

In female mammals, including humans (XX), one of the two X chromosomes undergoes coordinated inactivation early in development to balance gene expression with males (XY). This phenomenon is known as X chromosome inactivation (XCI). We are studying the dynamics and mechanisms of XCI in primates using early embryos and embryonic stem cells of crab-eating macaques.
