      • Research Topics

        I am working on three main projects: isolation of glycomimetic peptides by phage library screening, development of anti-cancer therapeutics with tumor targeting peptides, development of biomarkers for autoimmune diseases.
      • Overview of the research

        In phage display system, random peptides and proteins are displayed on the surface of phage to obtain molecules that bind to target molecules. In our laboratory, we developed a system that combines phage display and next-generation DNA sequencing technology. This allows for global analysis of millions of sequences at one time. Using this technology, we are developing new diagnostics and treatments for intractable diseases such as cancer, allergy and autoimmune diseases. In addition, although carbohydrates are apparently involved in the onset of various diseases, most of the detailed pathogenesis have not been elucidated yet. In our laboratory, we are trying to control carbohydrate-associated diseases using glycomimetic peptides.
