Profile

• Profile

  My research focuses on bio-based cultural property materials and historical documents—such as wood, paper, and textiles—utilizing an integrated approach that combines radiocarbon dating, structural analysis, physical property evaluation, and chemical analysis. In particular, I view salvaged architectural timbers and museum artifacts as materials that have experienced long periods of real time, aiming to comprehensively decode their material properties, chronology, and provenance. Recently, I have been working to establish a research framework that bridges heritage science, materials science, and the humanities, focusing on historical architectural materials from Horyu-ji Temple, organic materials of Egyptian origin, and ancient manuscript codices.
