She was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. She graduated from Hokkaido University School of Medicine in 2007. After completing her junior residency at Teine Keininkai Hospital in Sapporo, she began training for primary care at the Department of Community Medicine, Saku General Hospital in Nagano prefecture. After being certified as a family physician and home care doctor, she was admitted to the doctoral program in social medicine at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine in 2014 and received her doctoral degree in 2018. After working as a postdoc researcher and assistant professor at UTokyo, she has been in her current position since October 2020.
She specializes in social epidemiology and primary care. She is a Japanese Epidemiology Association-certified senior epidemiologist, a member of the "Committee of Social Determinants of Health" of the Japanese Primary Care Association, and a JEA Young Epidemiologists' Network representative.
She has received the Outstanding Oral Presentation Award at the 77th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Public Health, the Presentation Award at the 9th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Primary Care Allied Research, and the Japanese Society for Primary Care Allied Research Award for Young Scientists in 2021.
