      My current research interests are focused on understanding the molecular principles underlying abnormal protein aggregation associated with neurodegenerative diseases. My education mission is to enable students to acquire research knowledges and techniques.

      • Research Topics

        Elucidation of the mechanism of ubiquitin-positive inclusion formation in neurodegenerative diseases
      • Overview of the research

        Ubiquitin is often found in inclusion bodies associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. We have revealed that polymerization of ubiquitin causes its aggregation and that the aggregates are selectively degraded in living cells. Now we study the molecular mechanism of aggregate formation of polyubiquitin chains.
