Graduate School of Informatics, Department of Informatics Professor
I have been conducting research on human sensory systems. My specialty is human vision, and the starting point of my research was the analysis of the mechanism of seeing motion, but I have since conducted research on various sensory information processing such as shape and color perception, time perception, tactile perception, and multisensory integration. Recently, in particular, I have been focusing on the study of Shitsukan (material) in order to understand perception in the real world. I'm interested in integrating the sciences of psychophysics and neuroscience with information engineering such as computer vision, computer graphics, display technology, and virtual reality.
