Neurophysiological investigation of epileptogenesis, Neuromodulation therapy in human
Overview of the research
Epilepsy is one of the common neurological disorders with a prevalence of 1% in general populations. Although many patients with epilepsy can keep the condition of seizure freedom using anti-epileptic drugs/anti-seizure medicine, some are medically intractable. I have been working on proving the pathomechanism of epilepsy and how to localize the epileptogenic zone, especially in patients with intractable focal epilepsy by means of neurophysiological techniques. In addition, I learned a lot about the stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) and neuromodulation therapy for epilepsy patients during 2 years' of oversea clinical and research activities at Cleveland Clinic in the U.S.A. (Sep 2018- Aug 2020).
