      • Overview of the research

        My main research interests are in atomic, molecular and cluster science based on MeV-energy ion accelerators, which are the foundation of radiation physics and chemistry. Understanding the interactions of energetic ions with atoms and molecules will lead to the elucidation of the underlying mechanisms of fast ion-induced processes such as particle therapy and cosmic ray induced astrochemistry. We develop unique experimental systems using a variety of molecular targets, such as gas-phase isolated polyatomic molecules, including bio-relevant molecules, and microdroplets in high vacuum. This allows us to study the complex reaction processes of fast heavy ion collisions at the molecular level. More recently, I have also been contributing to the promotion of the advanced use of MeV energy ion beam analysis in other areas such as materials science and battery development.
