      • Overview of the research

        熱帯における農業システムを環境と人間の関係性から解明する。熱帯・亜熱帯果樹類を用いて、高温(あるいは温度変化)、強光、乾燥などの熱帯環境ストレスとそれに対する蒸散や光合成、また開花結実の生理などの応答を調査することによって、作物の生育特性を明らかにし、収量や品質の向上、省力・省コスト化に対する生産技術の提言をおこなっている。さらに、果樹などの樹木作物が周囲の生態環境に及ぼす影響を調査して、環境ストレスの緩和機能や環境保全機能を評価している。
