• Profile

  I am studying fluid dynamics in the ocean, a vital player in the earth climate sytem, based primarily on field and numerical experiments. In my graduate school, I am trying to support students' ambitious activities (especially in geophysics) so that they can become a good researcher and/or make good works in their job field. I am very happy if oceanographic activities in Kyoto and Japan are promoted further by these activities.

• Overview of the research

  Dynamics of various flows in oceans and seas are investigated to clarify mechanism of the earth climate system. Field and numerical experiments are performed to induce fundamental dynamics in oceans (and earth fluids) from experimental results. Recent topics include turbulence in surface marine boundary layer and consequent air-sea interaction.
