      地下の水がどのように存在し,移動しているかは,温泉・地熱資源や地震・火山噴火など水の関わる諸現象の解明に不可欠です。私はこれをミクロな視点から解明するため,地下を構成する岩石を用いた数値解析と実験に取り組んでいます。数値解析では,デジタル化した岩石の隙間に水を流すことで,目に視えない地下の水の流れがどのようになっているかを解析することができます。実験では,地上から観測可能な地震波速度や電気的特性を地下の圧力を再現した条件下で測定し,これらの観測値から地下の水の存在にアクセスするための有効な物理モデルの構築に取り組んでいます。これらの研究によって,地球の恵みである温泉・地熱流体の持続可能な開発や,地震災害・火山噴火リスクの減災にも資するような社会に貢献できる研究のアウトプットを目指しています。

        岩石物性に基づく断層と流体流動のキャラクタリゼーション
      • Overview of the research

        地下の水がどのように存在し,移動しているかは,温泉・地熱資源や地震・火山噴火など水の関わる諸現象の解明に不可欠である。私はこれをミクロな視点から解明するため,地下を構成する岩石を用いた数値解析と実験に取り組んでいる。数値解析では,デジタル化した岩石の隙間に水を流すことで,目に視えない地下の水の流れがどのようになっているかを解析している。実験では,地上から観測可能な地震波速度や電気的特性を地下の圧力を再現した条件下で測定し,これらの観測値から地下の水の存在にアクセスするための有効な物理モデルの構築に取り組んでいる。
