Japanese Modern History, History of Higher Education
Overview of the research
Relationship between schools and local communities in modern Japan. In particular, the discretion of each prefecture, the actions of local influential persons and academics, and the vision of Christian forces (visiting Missionaries and Japanese laymen) to pursue the actual establishment of secondary educational institutions, including colleges and junior high schools, as well as medical schools. At the same time, the project is also conducting basic research on Mori Arinori, the first Minister of Education, and Niijima Joh, the founder of the Christian private school. Examining women's history, focusing on their life course and life history, including academic affairs.
