Overview of the research
In the Mongol period, which began with the rise of Genghis Khan in the 13th century, and as a result of acquiring a vast territory, various "Knowledge" developed and accumulated in each region in all ages were given some oppotunities to encounter each other, and they were summarized and organized. In addition, many fields such as politics, economy, and culture enjoyed unprecedented prosperity thanks to the enormous investment of funds and the patronage and guidance of the Imperial Court and high officials. Especially, the development in the fields of art and science technology must be noticed. Using the huge amount of literature compiled in this period (books, manuscripts, inscriptions and documents written in Chinese, Japanese, Persian, Turkic, Mongolian, European languages, etc.), excavated materials, iconography and other art objects, I intend to clarify, one by one, the policies of the Mongol Empire and its successors in the 13th ~ 15th century, the concrete aspects of Eurasian East-West exchange from the Iberian Peninsula to Japan, the military system of successive nomadic nations, and so on.
