Yoshiki Arakawa has experience in general neurosurgery, including cerebral aneurysm clipping and bypass surgery in Kurashiki Central Hospital. After then, he worked on the mechanisms of axonal extension and intracellular signaling in neurons at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine and earned his PhD in 2003. He developed an interest in viral therapy for cancer and worked at the Cancer Research UK London Institute from 2005, where he elucidated the control of cell membrane actin and microtubules mediated by Rho/mDia through viral proteins. Since 2007, at Kyoto University, he has been engaged in brain tumor surgery and endoscopic surgery. He specializes in function-preserving surgeries using awake surgery and minimally invasive surgeries using endoscopy. In addition to surgery, he has extensive experience in chemotherapy and radiotherapy for malignant brain tumors. In clinical research, he leads clinical trials in the Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG) and the Japan Children's Cancer Group (JCCG).
