• Profile

  Dr. Ayumu Saito graduated from the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University. He then completed his graduate course in archival science from the Graduate School of Humanities, Gakushuin University. After graduating from Waseda University, he began a career as an editor in Tokyo. In 2016, he took on the role of archivist at the Research Resource Archive, Kyoto University. His field of specialty is architectural records from the 1970s in the United States and Japan. He is also interested in science and technology, art, and fashion archives, amongst others.

• Overview of the research

  I am studying about the archival processing based on archival science for architectural materials. Focusing on the processing techniques developed in the late 20th century, mainly in the United States, we follow the process of establishing the techniques and apply this techniques in Japan. Similarly, based on archival sciences, I am also researching related archives of architecture such as art and fashion.
