Office of Research Acceleration Program-Specific Associate Professor
kyoto-u.ac.jpAsa Nakano is the Associate Professor (Program-Specific) at the Center for Enhancing Next-Generation Research, Kyoto University. She is in charge of designing and creating Center's researcher development programs (the Program for the Development of Next-generation Leading Scientists with Global Insight, L-INSIGHT), and conducting surveys through networking with policy makers and government officials particularly in EU countries. The program, which has received a grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), includes designing a scheme to identify issues concerning research environment. It aims to establish a creative research environment where young researchers can fulfill their potential and achieve their research goals.
Asa Nakano also lectures on program design methods for academic support professionals in Japan and abroad, including training curriculums for research administrators at Kyoto University and University of Tokyo. Prior to joining Kyoto University, she was selected as an emerging artist by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and worked as a first-class architect in Spain until 2010. She designed national architectural projects such as Museo de las Colecciones Reales (Mansilla+Tuñón Arquitectos), and also worked as a coordinator for international projects between Japan and Spain.
