      • Research Topics

        Origin of my research comes from organic synthetic chemistry. I went in to the field of biochemistry and molecular biology, and have studied mainly on ion channels, which mediate Ca2+ influx, through molecular/functional identification and elucidation of biological significance of Ca2+ infulx channels. Now, I focus on presynaptic active zones, which provide Ca2+ channels with molecular niche, where they exert physiological roles, and as well on TRP channels, which sense and integrate redox status of cells. I enjoy researches by taking a comprehensive approach to ion channels, ranging from basic science including evolutionary biology to application science such as elucidation of channelpathies and invention of ion channel-based drugs and nano-devivices.
