さまざまな生理的・化学的刺激(身体運動、電気刺激による筋収縮、食品成分、薬物、生理活性物質、温熱刺激など)によって活性化される骨格筋の糖・タンパク質・エネルギー代謝に関する分子メカニズムに興味を持っている。とりわけ、運動によって活性化される情報伝達分で、骨格筋糖輸送/糖利用の急性的な活性化を誘導する5’ AMP-activated protein kinaseに焦点を当てた研究を行っている。さらに、運動によって惹起される分子機構の臨床応用の観点から、ヒトにおける運動処方にも興味を持っており、最近は短時間の階段昇降運動がもたらす血糖降下作用を、2型糖尿病患者において臨床研究として検証している。
